“Using Our Hands to Reach the World for Christ”

Talented Hands Rescue Center, Home and Farm in Kenya

Presented by Tim and Terry Scofield of Quinter, Kansas

Reaching Hands Ministry

All are invited to gather together to recognize World Community Day during the noon hour on Friday, November 1, at the Colby United Methodist Church. Local churches are providing a free salad luncheon, which will be served beginning at 11:45 a.m. The event will end by 12:50 p.m. The ecumenical event is supported by local churches in Colby.

Listen to the inspiring leaders of the Talented Hands Rescue Center, Home and Farm in Kitale, Kenya. This project is based on Isaiah 58:10. Around 50 boys that live on the streets come each day to the center to eat a meal, bathe, wash their clothes, hear a message of hope, play soccer, receive medical care and find a safe spot off the streets, leaving behind glue and knives for a day. Ten boys live at Talented Hands Home where they eat 3 meals a day, sleep in a warm, dry building on real beds with a mattress and a blanket instead of sleeping in a doorway, with a feed sack to cover up with for protection from cold and rain. To live at the home each boy must commit to stop using glue and drugs, attend school and desire to return home to his family. The Talented Hands Home has taken 150+ boys off the streets and back to their homes in the past three years. The Talented Hands five-acre Farm grows food for the Center and Home plus provides a place for some of the boys who live at the Home to work.

All of the donations on World Community Day will be designated to Talented Hands Rescue Center, Home and Farm–a project of Reaching Hands Ministry, a 501c3 government-registered non-profit organization that relies on volunteers and donations. All donations are tax exempt.

Reaching Hands Ministry was started in 2005 by Tim and Terry Scofield.
